Ooni Fyra pizza-ovens are now the garden's must-have accessory. It's clear why. The promise of making pizza at home, without the need to travel to restaurants, has made them one the most popular items over the past 12 months.
It was very easy to assemble the Ooni Fyra oven pizza oven. This was a simple task for someone like me, who is terrible at following instructions (my Ikea flatpack meltdowns have become a household legend).
Before I tried the Ooni Fyra 12, it was not something I had in mind. I didn't think this would be the year that I learned how to make pizza. New York City residents have easy access to delicious pizza at all price points and all types. Pizza is available wherever I go. I have never been able to make a cast-iron pizza at home, so other than the occasional occasion when I do manage to throw together a few pies, it is not something that I feel the need for. Particularly, I thought the fancy wood-fired leopard-spotted pizzas offered at my favorite restaurants were beyond my (and my apartment’s) abilities. I figured why not try something that I wouldn't be able to do as well as the pros.
I was shocked at how small the Ooni Fyra pie oven looked when it arrived. But this has turned out to be its biggest advantage. It's light and portable.
The real question is, however, whether the Fyra 12 can make a good pizza. As long as you are willing to navigate around its quirks, it's a simple yes.
Ooni Fyra comes with a variety of accessories, such as pizza oven covers and pizza peels. This impressive list includes thermometers, trolley tables, pizza cutters, and topping stations with compartments that can hold all your favorite toppings.
It was disappointing to get my Ooni and discover that I didn't have all the materials necessary to make pizza. Ooni does not sell the pizza peel so make sure that the model you choose is small and narrow enough to fit the pizza plus the pizza in the oven. This is the one I bought and it's great. A wooden peel could be used, but I found the thinness of the metal was what I needed to maneuver.
The Ooni Fyra 12 portable pie oven is light and compact and can be easily carried from the roof. The company's cheapest model is currently available. The best part is that it can be powered by wood pellets, which you can feed into the oven's back. It is forbidden to light or re-arrange charcoal or logs, nor touch a propane tank.
The Fyra delivers its promise of portability. The oven cavity can accommodate the chimneys and the legs are easily folded up. The exterior powder-coated is durable and scratch resistant, weighing in at 20 pounds.
The oven's viewing hole allows you to check the oven to make sure it is burning well. After the first set has been ignited and is well-burned, you can add more pellets into the fuel hopper at the top of the oven until it's full. The oven automatically feeds the pellets into the hopper, so you don't have to push them down. To maintain oven temperature, you will need to refill the hopper regularly. A full hopper of pellets will last approximately 15 minutes.
Fyra 12 is great, but there are some caveats. Ooni brand pellets and fire starters must be used. It is however annoying. Your pizza will thank you. When you make a lot of pizzas, it is important to keep the hopper full. These are just a few of the things I recommend, but if you have the patience to remember them, I highly recommend it. It's as easy as a wood-fired oven to use and produces excellent results. It folds up easily for storage. I am looking forward to using the Fyra 12 once more. I am already planning a pizza party for my parents next month. It is truly amazing how it works. I could easily take them to New York City for pizza. However, I now have the ability to make my own homemade pizzas.
The main body of your oven can be removed from the box. Next, unfold the legs supporting the main portion of the oven. Before you insert the grate, slide the pizza stones into the base. You then attach the main chimney, the taller part at the front, and lock it into position. Next, you insert the fuelhopper (the smaller cylinder towards the back). You're done!
Ooni recommends that you place your pizza oven in an area where there is no wind. Also, keep it at least 3ft (1 m) away of structures to get the best results. The manual advises that it be placed on wood, stone, marble, and stainless steel surfaces.
We've used the recipe in all seasons: on sunny Saturdays in great weather, during rainy Saturdays when we just want a treat, and even in winter where it was just the same fun to cook under the light of fairy lights. Read on to see how we got along...
With the rise in popularity of outdoor kitchens, the desire for having the best pizza oven in your alfresco kitchen setup shows no sign of slowing down this year either. So when I got the opportunity to road test the Ooni Fyra wood pellet pizza oven, I jumped at the chance to see if having our own pizza oven in the garden really would be as much fun as I thought it would be.
Ooni Fyra pizza ovens have become the essential garden accessory. It's easy enough to see why. These pizzas have become one of the most requested items of the past twelve months.
Ooni Fyra includes a pizza oven cover, serving boards, and even pizza peels. There's a lot to choose from, including pizza cutters and trolley tables, as well as topping stations that include compartments for all your favorite toppings.
Ooni Fyra, the Ooni 3's successor, is now available. It was the Ooni 3's most beloved model. This oven uses wood pellets instead of its predecessor and has seen several performance improvements as well as a new design. You will find a taller, more fuel-efficient hopper and a viewing hole. Also, it has a more robust shell that holds more heat than the Ooni. The pizzas made with it were amazing, although they took some time to perfect. Other things that we enjoyed were the small cooking surface and compact nature, as well as the ability to use virtually any type or wood pellets. It was initially a bit difficult to lighten and use.
I couldn’t agree with you more. This pizza oven is amazing. It is very easy to assemble, takes up little space, and it can be moved easily to any location in the garden. This is an excellent buy even if you have only a small balcony or patio. You will be happy cooking with it.
You can purchase an Ooni infrared thermometer to make sure it is at the right temperature. But, it doesn't have to be essential if your goal is to bake pizzas in the oven. After several times in the oven, I was able see when it was heating up.
The pellets are a versatile product that has a lot of benefits. They burn efficiently, which is something that has been mentioned before. But this can be disputed when you cook at the high temperatures required for good pizza-making.
Cooking pizza with the Ooni Fyra 12 is as easy as topping your dough round on a floured pizza peel and, after 15 minutes of preheating, sliding the pizza onto the cooking surface. At full temperature (Ooni says you’re looking for about 950°F, which you can check with an infrared thermometer), you’ll want to rotate your pizza every 30 seconds or so until all sides have some time near the fire. Your pizza will be puffed, perfectly charred in spots, and fully cooked in one to two minutes.
Ooni's lowest pizza oven is a lot more fun than it sounds. The learning curve for some cooks may prove too steep.
First, you need to take out the chimney cap. Next, remove your chimney cap. I used only two handfuls to start following the guidelines. After that, you add a firelighter on the front of your pizza grate (I used Ooni Firelighters, which I had been given), light it, and then push the grate in the back.
Ooni is the leader in backyard pizza ovens. Its Fyra 12 (349) is its most affordable model. Ooni's most mobile option is the Fyra 12. It weighs 22 lbs and uses dry hardwood chips as its fuel source. They are easy to transport and readily available in grocery and hardwood stores all over the U.S.
I recommend the Koda 12 for large families and those who plan to make pizza the star of their next dinner party. This will cost you an additional $50 and give you less portability than pellets. However, it will make your life easier and bring you more pleasure.
It was a real bummer that my Ooni arrived with plans to make pizza that same day. However, I discovered that I didn’t have the right materials. Ooni will not ship a pizza peel, so be sure to choose a model that's thin and narrow enough to fit your pizza. I really liked this one. While you could probably use a wood peel to make it work, I found I needed the thinness in metal to be able to maneuver.
Outdoor kitchens are becoming more popular, and so is the desire to have the best pizza oven for your outdoor kitchen. When I was offered the chance to test the Ooni Fyra wood-pellet pizza oven, I took it as a great opportunity to find out if owning a pizza oven in our garden would be as fun.
The Fyra is also great for cooking steak, bread, meat, vegetables, and more. You'll be blown away not only by what all you can cook in an Ooni Fyra, but the flavor that the wood pellets and high temperatures add to your food. The Ooni Fyra preheats in 15 minutes, which is comparable to the average kitchen oven. 24 Jan 2021
Most Ooni pizza ovens are built well from materials including stainless steel, which makes them durable enough to stay outside for reasonable periods of time. If you choose to leave your Ooni outside, just make sure it is sheltered from rain, snow, and high winds so that you can extend the life of your pizza oven.
